Outdoor and Local Activities
For the Outdoor enthusiast:
CANOE/KAYAKING
Follow the Streams, Rivers (Rankin River, Sauble
River), Lakes (Boat Lake, Spry Lake, Issac Lake
and Sky Lake), that have been used to
discover "Our" Great Country. While paddling,
visit the Historic sites on the way. The Jesuits
Order used these Water ways to travel, to bring
Religion and Trade with the Native people.
NATIVE TRIBES
There are two Native Tribes in the area.
The Saugeen First Nations Natives (Southhampton)
and The Cape Croker Chippewa’s of Nawash First Nation at Cape
Croker. Each have their Annual POW WOW weekends.
FALLS:
There are several Falls within a 40 mile area.
Sauble Falls, Indian Falls, Inglis Falls, Eugenia Falls, Walter Falls, Hoggs Falls, and Jones Falls.
CAVES:
Lions Head - Gregg's Caves
Wiarton - Bruce Caves Conservation Area
GOLF:
There are 5 GOLF Courses in the area.

Northern Dunes Golf Club (18 Holes)
Wiarton Golf and Country Club (18 Holes)
Pinewood Golf Club (9 Holes)
Chesley Golf Club (9 Holes)
FISHING:
During the year there are 4 FISHING DERBIES in our Area.
Kincardine - Salmon Derby
CFPS - Chantry Chinook Classic
Bruce Pennisula - Fishing Derby
Sauble Beach - Fishing Derby
Owen Sound - Fishing Derby

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING:
Enjoy the Winter months by staying fit while
Cross County Skiing. Stay at Sunny Birch Cottage Resort, when skiing
at the Sauble Cross Country Ski Club, a Non profit
Corp. Their 15 Km. Nordic Ski Trail, is the BEST in
South Western Ontario. Ski in Hepworth, (11 Km.) at
the Saw Mill, a 10 Km. skate race and classic trail,
operated by the Bruce Ski Club, or COME and enjoy
the weekend for Ski Arama / Snow
Arama. This has always been a
well attended Event with 10th of
Thousands of dollars being raised
and pledged by the local area for a
well deserving Organisation, “The “Easter Seals”. |
